Okay, so Andra and Hen having a baby is pretty impressive. But this is even bigger:
From Aliza: R. would love it if she could have a playdate with Olive.
Olive being invited for a playdate -- not an "everybody in the class is invited" party or even a "some people get invited" party but a real, live, My Child Wants To Play With Olive playdate -- has never happened.
And lest one think it's just another let's do lunch proposition, this came sailing into my Inbox today:
I got a message from Olive's counselor, Aliza, that my daughter, R, would like to have a playdate with Olive. R tells me about Olive often and the things they do together at camp. What would work best for you and her?
This will be my Olive's first big-girl playdate. What should I wear? What if she goes to shake my hand and my palm is all sweaty? She's going to know it's our first time so I should give up on the idea of trying to look like I know what I'm doing, right?
Note to self: don't forget to bring Olive.
Oh....I'm so excited. For both of you!
Wow...Olive's world is changing so fast. Hold on for the ride, momma.

Oh! Yay!! Excitement! I'm so glad Olive has found a friend. And I'm sure the other mom will like you, too. Her kid likes Olive, so you're ... like, a legacy. Or something. Right?

The last playdate I had, Littlest appeared halfway through with a pair of handcuffs.
I won them years and years ago in some joke raffle and had stowed them in the bottom of a drawer and forgotten about them.
Whether the child's mother believed me or not is debatable.

Okay, first of all, lose the handcuffs. Been there, done that, it is so last week. (That's a joke, just in case so didn't know.)
Yay for Olive and R!

Congratulations.
This is such a reward for you. (And for Olive.)
But any handcuffs you might have lying around... I think if I were you I'd leave them at home!

Olive's sunshiny nature shines through yet again. How lovely for her and you.
(PS. The last line of that post made me laugh out loud).

This is what inclusion is all about!! No matter how many times I hear about first invites, I still get goose bumps. This time I am especially excited because it involves my cousin Olive!!!!
