I'm not feeling very Valentines-y this year, having celebrated it by taking down the Christmas tree and lights. For this reason, I suggest we move on ahead and begin our Pulaski Day celebrations. You don't have to live in Chicago to appreciate this Polish Revolutionary War hero. And what's not to love about a holiday that one celebrates by eating an enormous serving of goulash served atop a plate-sized latke, with the whole thing wrapped up like a burrito and covered with sour cream? I'm also celebrating by seeing my doctor that day regarding my higher-than-ideal blood pressure, so I may go easy on the cuisine.
If Pulaski Day isn't your thing, there's always St. Patrick's Day. This year I'm ahead of schedule and have knit a little sacque for Diego. Because really, it goes without saying that Diego Alejandro Vargas Perlman can't be caught with nothing green to wear on March 17th.
